From a house, to an RV, to a tent, a studio and a condo.

If this was all me, which me did I like being best?

Things had not all gone right, as they sometimes don’t, and I had a pretty interesting living situation for about a year and a half.

We went from a 3-bedroom house in Upper Michigan to another one in Joplin, MO. We then lived in an RV out in Washington State for about a month, then downsized to a tent there, too. We arrived in Juneau, Alaska with not much at all but was on our backs. We then lived in a hotel there for about 5 months and finally ended up in this 2-bedroom condo. Not too shabby.

It’s strange how people experience life so differently sometimes. How what is acceptable to one person may not be at all to another. We met so many interesting characters throughout our journey, some do-gooders, some Patriots and some questionable folks, but we were blessed to have met them all along our journey. Characters for future writing pieces, I’d always told myself. We saw some of the most beautiful scenery and stayed in some of the most unique and precious spots throughout the country on our quest to find our new place in this world.

We were done where we were at, and knew we had to leave. Call it self-preservation, protecting our loved ones, or just experiencing life, we knew we needed a change. And a big one. Our parents, children and siblings thought we were crazy and for a time, perhaps we were. Not knowing where we were going to eat next or spend the night can do that to a person.

Alaska…I had someone ask me, “so you’re saying that sometimes it’s just you and the dogs and bear?” Well, not exactly like that, but yes…pretty close.

My husband, now a miner and my working in the staffing industry, we’re doing alright. We don’t see each other very often, but post-“Covid,” there was a time we saw too much of each other, too. Now we treasure the time we are together.

I’ve always loved to write, and I hope you’ll continue this journey with me. I’m going to try and keep it light, with a silver lining but know that I won’t sugarcoat anything, either.

More to come.

Meet Maggie

I feel emotions strongly, try to evoke the best from those around me, and put my best into all I do.

I see others struggles as a personal challenge to seek out how to help. My stories are all from the heart, in hopes of helping others in similar situations.
